ECCA 2017 will take place at the SECC, Glasgow from Monday 5th June until Friday 9th June 2017.

Conference Registration
The registration fee for delegates includes:
  • Attendance to all sessions and entry to the exhibition hall 
  • Conference materials 
  • Morning and afternoon refreshment breaks and lunch


    Registration does not include the conference ceilidh. Tickets can be purchased for a fee of £45 per delegate at time of registration, subject to availability.

    Please note that accommodation is not included in the registration fee.

    Terms and Conditions of Registration
    Before you proceed with registration, please read the following terms and conditions carefully. Notification of cancellations should be made by email to ecca2017@conferencepartners.com.  If you do not send an email confirming that you wish to cancel your place at the conference you will still be liable to pay the fees. Substitutions can be made at any time.

    • Up to and including 24th March 2017 the registration fee will be refunded less £20 administration fee  
    • After 24th March 2017 – No refunds on registration fees will be made.  
    • No shows will not be refunded

    The Civic Reception will take place on Monday 5th June 2017 at the City Chambers located in George Square in the heart of the city. This is an informal drinks reception open to all delegates at no extra cost.

    Date: Wednesday 7th June 2017
    Location: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum.
    Time: 7pm-11pm 

    The conference ceilidh will take place in the stunning Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. Enjoy fine Scottish cuisine in an informal party setting in this unique and history-rich building. After food and drinks, enjoy traditional Scottish dancing – a fast-paced and fun filled evening for all.

    How a Smart City Approach can help to Address Adaptation Challenges

    Date: Thursday 8th June 2017
    Location: Eastgate Centre, London Road

    Excursion Duration: 2 hours (excluding travel time, which is intended to be by train from Exhibition Centre to Bridgeton)

    This visit will consist of a tour of the city’s state-of-the-art Glasgow Operations Centre, which is a major smart city resource and a legacy of Glasgow’s delivery of the UK Future Cities Demonstrator programme.  The Centre is increasingly being used to assist the city in its response to weather events and will be linked to an innovative project in the north of the city, which will manage water levels in the canal to accommodate excess rainwater.

    Seeing Regeneration and Adaptation Build a Better Place Together.

    Location: Port Dundas and the surrounding area 
    Start Time: TBC, Afternoon
    Excursion Duration: 3 hours (excluding travel time via minibus/coach from the Exhibition Centre)

    This visit will consist of a walking tour led by an officer from Scottish Canals.  It will show how previously neglected resources – particularly the canal and nearby buildings – have been transformed as assets to support the regeneration of the area and make it more resilient, especially to climate change.

    Where the city and nature meet

    Glasgow is creating a high quality urban green network that brings together 20 km2 of lochs, parks, nature reserves and woodlands – securing high quality habitat on the edge of an expanding metropolitan area. This excursion demonstrates how enhancing our natural environment is delivering major benefits for adaptation in the region. This visit will consist of a walking tour led by an officer from the Glasgow & Clyde Valley Greenspace Network.

    Hearing Climate Ready Stories from Glaswegian Communities

    Date: Friday 9th June 2017
    Location: Lambhill Stables 
    Start Time: 10am 
    Excursion Duration: 2.5 hours (excluding travel time via minibus/coach from the Exhibition Centre)

    Delegates will meet communities in the north of Glasgow who have been working with partner agencies on  developing more resilient places that are adapted to the impacts of climate change.  Delegates will learn about some of the projects being delivered in the north and the real impact they are having on local lives and share a climate change lunch with institutions and communities engaged in the adaptation agenda.

    Natural Flood Management in the Eddleston Water Catchment

    Date: Friday 9th June 2017
    Location: The Eddleston Water, north of Peebles. 
    Start Time: 10am 
    Excursion Duration: Full Day (Eddleston is 1hr 30 min via coach from the Exhibiton Centre)

    The Eddleston Water Project was established by Scottish Government and SEPA to investigate and quantify the effects of habitat restoration and land management changes on flood attenuation and ecological status.  It is coordinated by Tweed Forum who work with landowners to incorporate natural flood management measures into their farming and forestry businesses which include remeandering, woodland planting, wetland creation, wood placement, to slow down and store water.  The works are intensively monitored on a number of fronts and this work is headed up by Dundee University.  This excursion will be of interest to policy makers, scientists and practitioners.

    An Environmental Strategy for a Changing Climate in the Whisky Industry

    Location: Cameronbridge, Fife.

    Scotland is the home of Scotch Whisky and the greatest concentration of distilleries in the world, with more than 100 distilleries making whisky using centuries-old methods. This excursion will provide delegates with a first-hand introduction to the whisky production process. We will also present our world-leading industry environmental strategy – which looks at our interaction with Scotland’s ecosystems and activities to minimise our impact on the environment in a changing climate.

    A Stirling Approach to Sustainability: Retrofitting, Renovating and Reducing Energy in Historic Sites

    An exciting opportunity to see the climate change mitigation and adaptation measures at the spectacular 12th Century Stirling Castle plus a visit to the Engine Shed, due to open in Spring 2017 as Scotland’s first dedicated building conservation centre, which will showcase traditional skills and materials.

    Edinburgh World Heritage Site: Edinburgh Adapts

    Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, is a UNESCO world heritage site for its two contrasting historic areas, the distinct Old Town, dominated by the iconic Edinburgh Castle; and the neoclassical New Town, whose development from the 18th century onwards had a far-reaching influence on European urban planning. Historic Environment Scotland and Edinburgh World Heritage are working with local partners to implement “Edinburgh Adapts: Climate Change Adaptation Action Plan 2016-2020” and manage the impact of climate change on the historic environment. This excursion will show projects in historic buildings, from the internationally significant to domestic dwellings, which demonstrate maintenance and retrofit to ensure that they are resilient to climate change.

    Climate Ready Forestry: Queen Elizabeth Forest Park

    Date: Friday 9th June 2017
    Location: Queen Elizabeth Forest Park
    Start Time:  9am 
    Excursion Duration: Full Day (Excluding travel time via mini bus/coach from the Exhibition Centre)

    Queen Elizabeth Forest Park is on the southern edge of the Scottish Highlands covering 67,000 hectares of native woodland, productive forest, water courses and areas of open space. The Forestry Commission Scotland is using the site as part of the Climate Ready Forest Network to research and demonstrate how forest management can create resilience to climate change. This requires careful planning and consideration from seed, to stand, to saw. This excursion will take you into the forest park to learn how land managers, scientists, policy makers and communities creating climate ready forests.
