Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) has a significant role to play in supporting the national ambition of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. In a session titled, On the Move: Transport Infrastructure Ireland's Approach to Delivering Sustainable Mobility, hear how TII is addressing challenges through its roads, light rail, and proposed metro network.
• Liam Desmond, and Sarah Maddock, will showcase recent work on the future of tolling and road user charging on the Irish road network, in the context of expiring motorway PPP toll concessions, sustainable funding of road transport, and demand management.
• Andrew O’Sullivan will present a number of successful ITS projects implemented on the motorway network in recent years. These include how a variable speed limit scheme became a catalyst for further investment in ITS deployments; the construction of new motorway operations control centre; and the rollout of a connected vehicle pilot project across 350km of the network.
• Paolo Carbone will look back at 20 years of light rail and how it has transformed Dublin’s transport network and look ahead to the proposed Metrolink network.
The session will be followed by a Q&A with the presenters.
Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) is an Irish state agency whose purpose is to provide sustainable transport infrastructure and services, delivering a better quality of life, supporting economic growth and respecting the environment.
