This session will cover national topics of relevance to transfusion medicine. The first speaker will report on the Infected Blood Enquiry and discuss implications for haematology. The second speaker will share lessons on the Cyber attack and how to maintain transfusion services through a challenging period. The final talk will be given by a surgeon, and will consider the value of health data science in blood transfusion and peri-operative medicine, and the work of the NIHR Blood Transfusion Research Unit in data-enabled transfusion practice, which are highly relevant given the earlier presentations in this session
