Details

Published since April 2018, the best practice timed pathways series support the ongoing improvement effort to shorten diagnostic pathways, reduce variation, improve experience of care, and meet the Faster Diagnosis Standard (FDS). The Haematological Best Practice Timed Pathway will be published in 2026 after several years of campaigning for the development of a pathway by the third sector and subsequent recommendation by the National Cancer Programme’s Lymphoma and Multiple Myeloma Tumour Site Review in 2022. The document will cover the three most common blood cancers lymphoma, myeloma and leukaemia and include six schematics covering lymphoma, myeloma, Acute Myeloid Leukaemia, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia and Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia. The pathways are being developed by a multi-disciplinary consensus group with clinical leaders from local and specialist services across England, expert advice from Cancer Alliances, and people with lived experience of blood cancer.
