Dr Ahmed Abdulgawad is a Consultant Haematologist and the Clinical Lead for Cell Therapy at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. With a career dedicated to advancing the frontier of Immunotherapy, Dr Abdulgawad oversees the strategic and clinical delivery of cell therapy services for both standard-of-care and experimental indications. His expertise spans the breadth of haematological malignancies, while also spearheading the expansion of cell-based treatments into solid organ oncology. A prominent figure in clinical research, Dr Abdulgawad serves as the Chief Investigator and Principal Investigator for numerous global cell therapy trials, driving the development of next-generation therapeutics. An academic leader in his field, he has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and holds an FRCPath and a PhD, reflecting his commitment to integrating rigorous scientific inquiry with high-level clinical practice.

Mr Andrés Moya Dávila

Andrés Sebastian Moya Dávila is a Gene & Cellular Therapy Clinical Nurse Specialist at King’s College Hospital, where he has worked since 2022. With over a decade of experience in the haemato-oncology field, he has developed a strong clinical background through his roles as a staff nurse, senior nurse and now as a clinical nurse specialist. In his current position, Andrés provides comprehensive care for patients preparing for or undergoing gene and cellular therapies, including CAR T and emerging treatments, such as exagamglogene autotemcel, for certain haemoglobinopathies. He coordinates complex pathways, offers expert clinical advice to patients and families, and runs a nurse-led clinic that integrates holistic needs assessments and advance care planning to ensure personalised, patient-centred care before treatment. Originally from Ecuador, Andrés completed his nursing degree at the University of Alcalá (Spain) in 2015, before moving to the UK to begin his career in haemato-oncology. He is committed to education and regularly contributes to bite-size teaching sessions for haematology nurses at King’s, supporting the development of colleagues working in this rapidly evolving field. Andrés has an active interest in research and service development. He presented at the EBMT Nursing Programme in Glasgow in 2024, sharing insights on advance care planning and the experience of delivering a CAR T service. His abstract, “Advance care planning in CAR-T therapy patients: demographic influences and engagement rates – a retrospective single-centre study,” was presented as a poster at EBMT 2025 in Florence. Surabhi Chaturvedi is the Senior Psychotherapist and service lead for the haemato-oncology psychological support team at King’s College Hospital in London, UK. An integrative psychotherapist with a background in clinical psychology, she leads a team of psychological therapists within the hospital’s haematology, stem cell transplant and cellular therapies (CAR T) department, providing specialist psychological support to patients and families affected by blood cancers and bone marrow failures, both in an inpatient and outpatient setting. Her clinical expertise spans the entirety of a patient’s journey from diagnosis to survivorship, palliation or end-of-life and includes transplantation as well as CAR T. In addition to clinical responsibilities, she also delivers teaching and supervision for colleagues on the psychological aspects of caring for patients in the haematology department. She is frequently invited as a speaker for patient education events that are organised by blood cancer charities, as well as national and international conferences, including British Society for Haematology (BSH), European Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (EBMT), European Haematology Association (EHA) and European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).

Dr Laura Dunning is a Consultant Haematologist at South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, Middlesbrough, UK. Based out of The James Cook University Hospital, she is part of the specialist lymphoma team and is involved in multidisciplinary teams that manage complex haematological cases. Dr Dunning specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of haematological disorders, with a particular focus on lymphoid malignancies. Her interests include personalised treatment approaches in haematological cancers, the care of elderly patients with lymphoma and clinical trials in lymphoid malignancies. She is passionate about medical education, holding a postgraduate certificate in medical education and enjoys delivering lymphoid education to a variety of audiences.
